Investigation of ablation decontamination technology generated by laser light

Abstract

The article describes the operating principle and feasibility of a new decontamination technology. One of the very important parameters for the storage of radioactive waste is its volume. Due to the ablation technology, the surface contamination of solid objects can be eliminated by collecting the particles detached by ablation, thus maximizing the volume / impurity volume ratio of the purified material. Most technologies produce large amounts of secondary contamination, the ablation process is not, inexpensive, fast, and can be deployed almost anywhere.

In this article I present the results of our radioactive material decontamination process, during which the contaminated surface was treated three times.
