Analysis of the private security sector based on certain data in the financial statements for 2014-2018

Abstract

At the end of 2019, there were 4,300 corporate companies in Hungary based on their core business in the private security sector. These are companies engaged in personal security activities, providing security system services or conducting (private) investigations and employing over sixty thousand employees. In this study, we analyzed some of the financial statements of the officially disclosed financial statements of companies for the financial years 2014 to 2018 on a sectoral basis with a time series analysis. Part of the data was used to construct indices and, through the data and the indices, sketched a relatively detailed picture for sector evaluation. In the theoretical part of our paper we have undertaken a review of the major studies in the field of security and privacy, and a brief overview of the methodology of corporate and sectoral analysis.
